I think this book is well-organized and easy to use. Each of the 101 travel tips begins with a bullet point list that reflects the appropriate age and the skills that are reinforced by the activity. I bought it before a recent trip out of town and used one of the ideas (travel tip 48) with my six-year old. We both look forward to trying additional tips on our next trip.

As a mother of 5 children, I am always looking for creative ways to keep the family peace on long trips in our mini-van. This book has a large variety of different games and activities that can be done while planning the trip, en route, or at the destination. The activities are rated for various ages. Some are simple games involving only wit and imagination. Others are learning activities like journals and math games. One idea I thought I’d try on our next trip was to take along a tape recorder and record a daily account of the trip to present to a grandparent upon returning. My mother is blind and I know the kids will get a kick out of that.
